SMITHVILLE, TEXAS - Russell Bobbitt and Cole Kirkpatrick recently traveled to the Texas Hill Country to offer a one-day riding clinic the day before the Smithville Sandwinder Enduro. Bobbitt and Kirkpatrick had a group of twenty riders sign-up for the clinic and had primo conditions despite some cold weather. Following the riding clinic, Bobbitt was the special guest speaker at the TSCEC enduro year end banquet. The riders had multiple Gnarly Routes tour bikes on display for the TSCEC riders to look over during the course of the evening.
Sunday was race day and the weather called for light rain all day long. Conditions were brutal on the goggles and the long resets made it hard to stay warm in between tests. The riders would race the same loop two times with a total of eight special tests. Bobbitt took the overall ahead of Kirkpatrick and Factory Husqvarna rider, Andrew Short took third in his first enduro ever. The Gnarly Routes crew will now focus on prepping for the upcoming riding tours in Texas and Utah.
BOBBITT: “It’s always fun to come to Texas and I had a good weekend getting to talk to many new people about riding and had a great time seeing riders progress over the day in the Gnarly Routes riding clinic.”
KIRKPATRICK: “This event is one of the most popular on the Texas enduro circuit and it was really cool seeing the pro class have over twenty riders. I don’t like getting second but it’s not a bad day when I finish second to a guy that won a national enduro a couple of weeks ago!
